Who said you can’t pull out those winter materials and reinvent them for Spring? It can be a little tricky to pull off thicker fabrics and not look like you’re stuck in last season, so listen up!
Leather has the obvious risk of being dangerously uncomfortable in the summertime, but its one of my absolute favorite materials. Thankfully, the fashion Gods have felt my pain and a new love has found its way into my closet; leather shorts. Designers at D&G, Alexander McQueen and Chloé can agree; these cool, comfortable, and highly fashionable shorts can be rocked with bare legs, or don’t hesitate to layer them and throw on a pair of sheer black stockings underneath.
Suede? You got it! Try it on your shoes and accessories first, due to its heavy weight. Good quality suede will hold up a long time and keep its luxurious look and feel if you maintain your pieces properly. If boho/Coachella-style items are part of your fashion-ammunition for executing summer 2013, try some pieces with long suede/leather fringes. Sure it’s a tiny detail, but a statement like fringes states a lot about the vibe of your outfit.
Knitted sweaters can also be more of a summertime style than you think. Wear them with a pair of stylish shorts while beachside, or draping off one shoulder over a skirt. If the thought of knitted sleeves has you reaching for the AC already, try an airy, open-front knitted cardigan.
Be a fashion-rebel this summer and don’t be afraid to break some of the rules… after all- good fashion knows no season.
