Weekend Ritual: Melrose Trading Post

When I have free time on Sundays I love to stop by the Melrose Trading Post flea market.  This flea market is one of my favorites, not only for shopping but for style-watching!

For $2 you’re granted entry to a swap meet set in the Fairfax High School parking lots, featuring vendors selling vintage clothes, handcrafted jewelry, shabby chic furniture, and odd knick-knacks.   I know I can always count on finding a one-of-a-kind accent piece for my apartment or the perfect 70s maxi dress.  My favorite booths?  The aisles-wide leather boot shop with new and vintage styles of Doc Martins, cowboy boots, and hipster booties- I can never resist a new pair- and the vintage record stand where I’ve found some rare vintage records hidden in the stacks.

But the best part of the flea market is scouting the street style, for sure.  Bargain hunters dress up in their Sunday best to see and be seen.  From floppy hats and sunnies to skinny jeans and scarves, you can expect to be inspired by the flea market goers around you!

Follow @MelroseTradingPost on Twitter and Instagram for updates on vendors and snapshots of the most fashionable flea-ers.  Maybe I’ll see you there this Sunday!
