Vogue, Fall/Winter 2012

Christian Lacroix has always been known for his creative, fantasy and very avant-garde clothing. His career began in 1988 where he opened his first couture boutiques in London, Paris, Geneva and Japan. After his first runway show, The Sunday Times said, ” “Vive Lacroix! There’s been nothing like it in 25 years!” while Vogue called him “Paris’ most talked about designer.”  Not since Dior’s New Look had couture generated such a blaze of publicity. He is known for his theatrical style which came from his previous work in the theater, and study of historical costumes. Over the years, Lacroix has dressed and designed for plenty of Hollywood elite and has designed everything from menswear to lingerie, children’s clothing and accessories.  Throughout his career, he also served as the Creative Director for the Italian fashion house Emilio Pucci from 2002–2005 until he left to focus on his own designs. His Haute couture designs are truly one-of-a-kind and remains to this day one of the most avant-garde and unique designers in fashion.
