The Queen of the Catwalk: Naomi Campbell

Happy Birthday Naomi Campbell!

Growing up and loving fashion for as long as I can remember, Naomi Campbell has always stuck out in my mind as a fierce superstar on the runway, and she has truly paved the way for supermodels all over the world (and left quite the footsteps to follow in.) Born in Britain, Campbell was discovered at the age of 15, and quickly established herself among the top three most recognizable and in-demand models of the late 1980s and 1990s. Naomi was even one of six models of her generation declared “supermodels” by the fashion world- even s declared “the reigning megamodel of them all”, and has been in countless campaigns, runway shows, and editorials throughout the span of her successful career. Naomi’s first public appearance was in Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” music video at the age of 7 in 1978, and after appearing on the British cover of Elle at 16, she was has been everywhere since! Naomi has paved the way for supermodels everywhere, particularly breaking color barriers and becoming the first African American featured for many covers and editorials. She is truly one-of-a-kind in the industry, and the fashion world wouldn’t be the same without her presence!

I must say that I have enormouse admiration for Naomi. So much so that for years I have known that if she is not included in any a fashion show, then the organisers of the said show are obviously not professional enough to have the one person that should be the first to be required unconditioally. I am a retired Professional photographer, so have an abillity to make this judgment.

I have only dreamed of photographing Naomi. I know this will never hapen. I spight of this I still know that there is not a single person on the planet who even comes close to having the incredible qualities of Naomi. It will always remain my dream to see her and takesome photos.
As a Professional I have been fortunate to have been in a situation to have met amazing people, but none like Naomi Campbell.

    My ultimate respect.
