It’s the most wonderful time of the year…SALE time! It’s been hard to resist walking around the Grove while working and not indulging in end-of-season sales, so I don’t even try to walk away from the deals anymore. Nordstrom, Barney’s, Topshop, and even stylehaus are hosting discount blowouts, and me and my clients have been reaping the benefits!
Though sales can be hard to navigate, I have a few stylist tips & tricks for sifting through sale racks. By following these guidelines, you’ll be a better bargain hunter in no time!
1. Don’t pay attention to the signs.
Sale time always makes customers crazy- people have been known to load their arms full of merchandise from all over the store, start feeling guilty, and dump it all back onto the racks in the wrong place. Keeping this in mind, check racks that aren’t marked for your specific size- you never know what you might find!
2. Check the “discard” rack in the fitting rooms.
Obviously, this is where the best stuff is! This rack is full of items that others have tried on in hopes of walking away with the perfect piece, but ended up having to give it up. The jacket that someone else loved but didn’t fit into might be your Cinderella piece!
3. Don’t buy it just because it’s on sale.
What I like to do with my purchases is ask myself the following questions:
-Would I still be lusting after it if it was $5000?
-Would I see it in Forever 21 and be just as smitten?
Don’t let a designer name or a super-slashed price tag influence your taste. Buy something because you love it- not because it’s cheap. The sale is just an added bonus!
Now, get shopping! Maybe I’ll see you around the Grove
