Runway Recap: DKNY

Although I’m an LA girl now, I grew up in New York City (by way of Russia).  I’m a New Yorker through and through, which is why I LOVED the newest DKNY collection!

While DKNY has never been one of my go-to brands, I think that will be changing come Fall 2014.  I was blown away by designer Donna Karan’s runway show this week, which was an ode to current NYC street culture.  Not only were the clothes 100% cool, wearable, and fresh- the models were, too.  Karan didn’t limit herself to the runway regulars; instead, she incorporated real NYC girls & guys in her runway show!  Tattoo artists, rappers, socialites, and DJs clomped down the catwalk clad in DKNY, which made the collection that much cooler.

DKNY captured the essence of New York style: nothing was too polished or too perfect.  Proportions were mismatched, and luxurious fur was paired with platform sneakers.  Expensive leathers were paired with black New York Yankee caps.  Black and white were the mainstays of the collection.

I love everything here, but I’m really dying to get my hands on the long striped fur vest and the wide-leg leather pants.  Perfection!
