Accessorizing in summer is easy & fun- pile on the bright colors, throw on a giant statement necklace over a barely-there silk cami, stack up an armful of bangles, and go! Fall/Winter accessorizing can be a tad more difficult- long sleeves are covering the arm that used to be weighed down with bracelets, and a heavy coat is standing in the way of a statement necklace. There’s no excuse for boring outfits, though! There are plenty of creative ways to accessorize with cold-weather wear, and there’s a whole new crop of fun pieces to play with hitting stores right now.
In the winter, I’m all about black and leather, and I love how gold and silver jewelry pops against the darker colors. Heavier clothing means heavier jewelry, so save your delicate chains for warmer weather! Chunky hardware-like pieces are the way to go. Here are my faves:
These Ana Khouri white gold and diamond earrings have the perfect amounts of severity and delicacy to compliment a winter outfit. When the rest of your body is all bundled up, your facial area is the perfect place to display some out-there pieces.
This Lanvin chain necklace would look so amazing contrasted with stiff fabrics, like wool. I’ll wear it with a black turtleneck and black leather moto jacket!
I love that this gold chain-link Stella McCartney cuff is versatile, yet far from stuffy. It would be the perfect piece to mix with dark blues and blacks! I can see myself wearing this cuff year after year.
The rose gold of this hinged Dominic Jones would looks so pretty against olive skin, and adds an unexpected girliness and touch to the otherwise structured piece.
See? More clothes doesn’t have to mean less accessories!
