PFW Céline F/W’13

I am obsessed with the Céline totes that have been hitting streets everywhere, so I was anxiously anticipating the runway collection at Paris Fashion Week! Céline delivered a beautifully soft palette for their fall looks, and incorporated plaids (a common fall runway trend) into their oversized coats. Pairing delicate, feminine tones with colored pants, boots, and plenty of gray, the collection had a classic, minimal-chic feel. I was hoping to see some of the traditional totes, but loved that the soft clutch bags that the models held close were made of the same fabrics as the clothes themselves. In a nod to the 90s trend of wrapping your sweater around your waist, the designer showed a variety of coats and dresses with wrapped sleeves, offering a fashion-forward touch to the minimalist collection. Incorporating a feminine feel to her creations, designer Phoebe Philo sent the message that the Céline image was softening up for fall. “In other words, exit the too-cool-for-school tomboy and enter the lady.”
