There was great anticipation for the Balenciaga collection as it was Alexander Wang’s first time designing for the brand. Although Wang was only given a short amount of time to design a full collection for one of the worlds most loved and cherished couture brands, he definitely gave us a collection that I was quite impressed by. He wanted to make sure to incorporate elements of the brand that were classic and chic, while also bringing in a more, “New York, modern, young and edgy” twist. The runway was set up in a very brilliant way, where the audience was always able to see the front and back of the models because of the large mirror at the front of the runway. This enabled viewers to get the whole look all at once, which is something Wang wanted to achieve. The collection consisted of cocoon coats, structured peplum, cut-out dresses and petal skirts and tops. My favorite look was one of the last ones on the catwalk, the textured pant and fur vest was to-die-for, I definitely need to get my hands on this look for fall!
