NYFW: Yeohlee

There’s nothing like the anticipation that comes from being plunged into darkness as the lights dim before a runway show to signal that the show is about to begin- but every once in a while it’s nice to get out of the event centers and see an outdoor presentation.   Yeohlee’s garden party runway show was a breath of fresh air- both the setting and the clothing!

It was a beautiful day in New York, which heightened the light and laid-back feel of the collection, and each look was shown with Birkenstock-eque sandals to drive home the “simple elegance” vibe.  A few looks caught my eye as both wearable and edgy:

This black and white collared shirt is the epitome of easy-breezy style.  Its swing cut is super on-trend (I’m all about the mod 60s look), and it can be worn clean and crisp a la Lauren Hutton or edged-up with leather shorts.

I’m really feeling this striped dress.  Stripes are always in fashion for spring, but this pattern feels fresh and exciting.  Since it’s done in a darker gray palate, I could see this piece being a 4-season dress- wear it with sandals in summer or tights and tall boots in winter.

I’m not usually a dress girl, but a 2nd dress caught my eye during this presentation.  Another swing cut, another collar- but this time done in a pattern.  Again, this piece is super easy to wear- which is why I’m drawn to it.  The solid gray and geometric pattern combo looks pulled-together, but the easy shape requires only that you throw it on and go!

And here’s a pic of what I wore to the show :)

Yeohlee is definitely a designer to watch- I’ll be on the lookout for their wearable designs to hit stores.
