I’ve been in New York for New York Fashion Week since Saturday- the day after I got back from New Zealand Fashion Week! Like I said in yesterday’s blog, my brain is so full of fashion and looks from so many different designers that I haven’t had a chance to sort out my thoughts and favorite trends. One show that particularly stuck out to me, though, was Tibi’s Spring 2014 presentation!
The show opened with leather- my favorite- so I knew from Look 1 that this collection would be right up my alley! An oversized leather jacket over Bermuda shorts and a black and white printed top was a favorite look (those Bermuda shorts are everywhere this season!), as was a leather paneled dress with a slanted zipper detail. These looks were easy and light- I loved that Tibi showed dark colors and leather for Spring, despite the fact that brights and light fabrics are usually in style for the warmer months.
Next, cropped tops were shown under slouchy suits. ! I wore a very similar style to the Andrea Moore NZFW runway show, so it was fun to see a look I already love shown a few different ways at Tibi! With high-waist pants and an slightly boxy blazer, a cropped top is polished and even professional- I’m glad this trend is sticking around for another season!
An ombre denim shorts set was to die for- I want to wear it right now! The jeans I wore to the Tibi show (from stylehaus) were actually pretty reminiscent to this runway look, and I can’t wait to update my wardrobe with the Spring version as soon as it’s available. What I love about this matching set is that I’ll get a lot of use out of the pieces separately as well- the top would be amazing with leather skinnies, and I’ll wear the shorts with silky tanks.
Finally, sheer striped separates walked down the runway: a slightly-cropped top and a midi skirt. While Tibi showed them mixed with other pieces, I think I’d wear them together. I don’t normally do white, but I could see these pieces worn over layers of black for a more rock ‘n’ roll vibe.
I’ll be sure to keep you guys up-to-date with my favorite collections as much as I can; in the meantime, you can take a look at the full Tibi show here!
