Inspired by French New Wave films and a retro-mod feel, the Anna Sui Fall/Winter 2013 Runway show was everything I would imagine French glamour in the 1960s to be and oh so much more!
Along with French glamour, Sui noted that the early ’60s coincided with the revival of Chanel as inspiration for her show, and the chic, ladylike dress with a touch of retro was a prevailing theme throughout. The collection represented the designer’s eccentric, technicolor style with bold prints, tweed, metallics, and shaggy coats with a mod 1960s or ’70s flair evident in just about each piece. Featuring bright, bold jumpers paired with knee-high socks and geometric patterns, I felt taken back to the 60s in France — and I couldn’t have loved it more! The audience was in awe of the fun dresses, accessories, and fur coats, and it truly was the “it” place to be as NYFW came to a close. (And Grace Coddington in the front row, need I say more?)
