Hervé Léger enthusiasts like myself, were excited when the brand expanded from the signature bondage dresses and skirts that I frequently wear, to swimwear for spring 2013! The brand created a fashion controversy back on the 2011 runways with what looked like a one-piece bathing suit that turned out to be a “sunsuit” which couldn’t get wet. However, this season, the brand has redeemed itself as far as swimwear goes by featuring the “completely swimmable” 2013 resort collection! Regardless of whether you will actually swim in these swimsuits, (they’re almost too pretty to get wet!) the bold, color-blocking one-pieces, sexy bondage-style monokinis, and sporty bandeau bikinis have pool party written all over them! The swimwear collection—inspired by supermodels of the 80’s and 90’s such as Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington—feature color-blocking designs and bright pops of color just like the bandage dresses. One thing is for certain; the tan lines from these bandage suits will be very interesting, but you’ll be the most fashionable one at the beach. Lubov Azria mentioned that “the thing with Hervé Léger swimwear is that it already comes off as sexy, so we’re trying to make it a bit more rock ‘n’ roll, a little bit modern. To make it cool and fresh, you have to give it a masculine or tomboy element.” Per usual, Azria mastered the sexy color-blocking style with these swimsuits and I can’t wait to rock them now that pool season is approaching!
