I show you guys a lot of my daytime outfits, but nighttime dressing is a whole different story. Although jeans and leather pants are pretty much appropriate for any “night out” outfits- going to a club, going out to dinner, going dancing- some events require a little more formality. So what does a leather-lover like myself reach for when an evening gown is required? Vintage, of course!
I’m not a dress girl, but when the occasion demands one I often turn to vintage pieces from the 60s or 70s- something with old-school glamour. To me, vintage gowns from that era of rock-and-roll have so much more character than today’s typical offerings.
This vintage gown is one of my favorites. Its star print reminds me of an early interpretation of this Tom Ford gown from Fall 2013 or this Marc by Marc Jacobs piece from SS14. See? Everything old is new again!
I upped the vintage glamour with a pair of giant statement earrings from Jared Jamin. These gold and ruby red sparklers remind me of something Jerry Hall would wear, which is right up my alley. I loved her signature over-the-top glam with a rock-and-roll edge style!
I didn’t want to add too much to this look, since statement earrings paired with a busy print is already a bit much. I opted for simple red Louboutins and called it a night.
Lucky for me, there are tons of great boutiques in LA that carry vintage gowns. My all-time favorite shop is The Way We wore on La Brea; it’s chock-full of high-end vintage treasures. Check it out next time you have a black-tie event for a guaranteed one-of-a-kind look!
