There’s nothing more casual than a sports jersey- or at least, that’s how things used to be. Sportswear has been getting a super-glam update for the past few seasons, culminating with Tom Ford’s sexy “jersey” dresses on the Fall 2014 runway. I’d been intrigued by the sportswear trend up until that point; after, I became a full-fledged fan.
In addition to the Tom Ford runway, there are so many street style pictures of sporty-chic girls to get inspired by! I love the jersey-as-a-dress idea (as seen on The Blonde Salad blogger Chiara Ferragni), and the mix of a long jersey + cargo jacket + tall boots.
While real jerseys certainly are authentic, the “fashion jersey” is where it’s at for me. These pieces don’t call out a particular sports team, but instead are made for women’s bodies and are a little easier to mix-and-match. A fashion jersey with a leather skirt is fun; a fashion jersey with slouchy pants and a big-shouldered jacket is even better!
I’ve got my eye on this netted jersey from stylehaus right now. I could just picture it with my favorite skinny jeans and Balenciaga boots, right? If you love it as much as I do, you can grab one for $148 at stylehaus.
