Beauty Routine

Style is about more than just clothing.  Style is a culmination of all the different ways you express yourself; the way you talk, the way you do- or don’t do- your hair, the makeup you apply, your facial expressions, and more all go into creating your unique style.  While I mostly focus on the clothing aspect of style here in my blog, today I want to focus on the beauty aspect.  After all, my outfits wouldn’t be the same without my signature makeup to finish off the look!

My must-haves: Coconut Oil, Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer, MAC shadow, Nars bronzer, Mac eye shadow brush

Great skin is essential for creating the beauty look I want.  To make sure that my skin is always acting as a blank canvas, I swear by coconut oil.  While applying oil directly to the skin may sound counterintuitive- oils are the cause of most breakouts, right?- coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that works for every skin type.  I use it as a makeup remover at night (sooo much better for your skin than cold cream), and after cleansing my face, I use a little bit as an overnight moisturizer.  It keeps my skin soft and clear!

After washing my face in the morning, I start my makeup routine with Bobbi Brown Extra SPF Tinted Moisturizer to even out my skin tone.  After setting it with a loose translucent powder, I use bronzer (NARS is the best) to contour under my cheekbones and at my jawline.  Next, I line my eyes with MAC Eye Shadown in Nehru using their Tapered Blending Brush.  Since I love a dramatic eye, I trace around the entire line a few times, and then smudge with my fingers for a smoky, undone look.  After a coat of lengthening mascara- I still use Maybelline Great Lash mascara- my look is done!

I love that this simple makeup routine lays the foundation for my clothing style.  With a smudged smoky eye, any outfit I put on instantly takes on an edgy, rock ‘n roll vibe!

Do you guys have a beauty routine that you swear by?
